The garden tomatoes have been both numerous and prosperous, so Milo and I made a batch of tomato soup. I miss my handy dandy Squeezo, but this squishing by hand method reminds me of making apple sauce with Mommom in her old-fashioned squeezo/strainer. And I’m sure Milo liked squishing the tomatoes with the potato masher more than he would have liked turning the crank on the Squeezo.
You, my friend, need a stick blender.
We have one, it was one of the first purchases made when we arrived. I am sure there is a reason it was not used?
Oh Uncle Ted, we are completely converted to stick blenders (thanks to you guys), and it was the only new electrical appliance we bought here (ours that you gave us works on 110 V, we have 220 V here, like in England). After we mashed the tomatoes I thought they might drain through the vegetable steamer, but they didn’t. Then we tried stick-blending them….and the liquid didn’t drain out then either. So I ended up squeezing it through a tea towel in batches as if it was a cheese, and resorted to a podcast to keep from going bored crazy. Hence the longing for a squeezo.
